an Airbag Module.

Safety first: battery and SRS connectors
This is general guidance for people preparing a module for a UK postal reset. It is not a substitute for your vehicle’s workshop manual. Airbag systems can store charge after the ignition is off. Always disconnect the negative battery terminal and wait before you unplug yellow SRS connectors or the airbag ECU itself.
If you are unsure at any point, stop and ask a garage to remove the module. You can still order the reset, hand them the packing instructions, and have them refit it when it returns. We work with DIY owners and trade customers every week.
Where to find the airbag ECU
The airbag control module is a small metal or plastic box with a multi-pin connector and a label full of part numbers. Common places include under the centre console between the front seats, under a front seat, on the transmission tunnel, or behind a lower dash trim panel. Commercial vans and motorhomes can hide it under seats or behind cabin panels.
Search your make and model plus “airbag module location” for photos, or use our finder once you have the label in hand. The part number matters more than guessing from the car alone.
When to use a garage
- You cannot reach the module without major trim strip
- Connectors feel seized or pins look damaged
- You are not confident working around airbags
- The car still has unrepaired crash damage near the ECU
Read the part number on the label
Before you seal the parcel, photograph the sticker on the airbag module. Capture every line: OEM part number, supplier code, and any suffix letters. Those characters decide which airbag module reset you order and which price band applies.
Most car and van resets are £35. Harder ECUs show as complex at £46. Motorhome B0100-49 work is £65. If the print is worn or shiny, WhatsApp a photo to Airbag Reset UK and we will match it.
Packing the module for post
- Wrap the ECU in bubble wrap or foam so the connector pins cannot catch
- Use a strong cardboard box with no spare rattle room
- Put your order name or reference inside the box
- Post to Universal Square, Devonshire St N, Manchester M12 6JH
After the reset: refit and clear the light
When the module returns, refit it with the battery still disconnected, reconnect the plug fully, secure the fixings, then reconnect the battery. In most post-crash cases the light clears once bags and belts are already repaired and the ECU has had a proper crash data clear.

Most airbag ECUs sit in the centre of the car: under the centre console, under a seat, behind a lower dash panel, or on the transmission tunnel. Exact location varies by make and model. If you are unsure, a garage can remove it quickly.
Do I need to disconnect the battery before removing the airbag ECU?
Yes. Disconnect the negative battery terminal and wait before unplugging SRS connectors. Airbag systems store energy. If you are not comfortable working around restraints, ask a garage to remove and refit the module for you.
